Over the summer my relationship changed with my bedroom. My bed
became both a welcoming cocoon like sanctuary and also a place of
Then, traveling during 2 weeks in September I slept in 6 different
beds. I had a very different relationship with these rooms, one of
curiosity, but no emotional attachment to the place or the items in it.
Yet someone had decorated each room, chosen fabrics, lights,
furniture, arranged things. Some were similar, some wildly individual.
Blindingly obvious which were hotels and which were not and yet still
each room had its own vibe and each became my short stay home.
We have mostly not met in person. We have seen each other’s faces
online, recognize each other’s voices, know each other through the art
we produce. We might never visit each other’s houses or countries.
Through the magic of art and the web though we can connect. In order
to learn more about each other I invited everyone to share, through
any media, that most intimate of spaces, their bedrooms.
